BASIC PURPOSE: 
Responsible for the maintenance and repair of technical systems including, but not limited to: Dialysis Machines, treated water systems, clinical/biomedical equipment, solution distribution system (SDS), equipment interfaces with IS devices, purchasing functions related to supplies and repair parts, and facility issues including building and equipment systems. Training Technical staff on machine maintenance and repairs.
Administration & Leadership:
  • Perform Initial dialysis machine and facility training for New Technical Coordinators.
  • Continue education of Technical Coordinators following completion of training program.
  • Audit and assist Technical Coordinators troubleshooting, repair of dialysis equipment, and preventative maintenance.
  • Follow all CDC policies and procedures.
  • Available to assist in all other technical duties, as needed.
  • Perform Technical Coordinator Machine repairs and preventative maintenance functions in the absence of the Technical Coordinator.
  • Build strong relationships with vendors.
  • Identify new technologies that could be used in the dialysis clinics.
Facility Operations:
  • Perform routine inspections and repairs of the facility’s dialysis machines, including basic electrical safety inspections and plumbing repairs.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance of all dialysis machines, and all dialysis equipment.
  • Coordinate unscheduled maintenance with technical to ensure compliance of dialysis equipment.
  • Direct and ensure compliance with contract obligations for routine service of dialysis equipment including, but not limited to:  dialysis machines, meters and solutions and other ancillary equipment.
  • Document all facility issues in the technical services software or with the Support Services Department, where applicable.
  • Cover on–call in emergency situations.
Dialysis Machines and Calibrated Meters:
  • Understand the theory and operation of Fresenius and B. Braun machine flow path and inner workings in detail.
  • Develop audit tools to ensure compliance with AAMI and CMS guidelines and standards.
  • Track, identify, and communicate to the Technical Coordinators all dialysis machine repair history trends.
  • Responsible for the management of East’s basement, specifically: all dialysis machine repairs located in that space are completed in a timely manner; all dialysis machine PM’s are completed on-time; all dialysis machine parts are ordered for timely repairs.
  • Coordinate and track required dialysis machine upgrades, and maintenance per CDC procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Document all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in the biomed software.
  • Provide technical support to the technical staff for equipment-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS:
  • Associate or biomedical degree preferred
  • 2+ years experience in basic electronics, mechanics, and plumbing preferred
  • Required Level 1 and Level 2 Dialysis Machine Certification
  • Technical expertise in treated water systems preferred
  • Technical expertise in Solution Distribution Systems (SDS) preferred
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven communication skills—verbal, non-verbal, and email
  • Demonstrated team building skills
  • Demonstrated team support and participation skills
  • Basic electrical knowledge and ability to read flow charts and schematics
  • Self-motivated and strong time management skills

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs.
  • Able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
